The most affordable coupe 840d x costs at least 6.83 million rubles, but the equipment is good. The M850i ​​x version starts at 8.57 million, in addition there is such a convertible for an additional payment of 840 thousand.

BMW's flagship coupe changed the index, but not the dimensions. The new "eight" is even shorter than the old "six" by five centimeters. The key question is: what does the growth of the index mean - inflation or the transition to a different level of consumer properties? The space has definitely not increased - only a child will fit behind, and then behind a short parent and without a child seat. But already "in the base" there is a mechatronic fully controlled chassis and four-wheel drive. No hybrids, only diesel or gasoline internal combustion engines. However, unlike the 840d x, the petrol car is prefixed with M. It turns out M850i ​​x, and this is the blue car in our test.

The "quasiem" (the real one will appear pretty soon) chrome decor has been changed to dark, and small aerodynamic elements have been added under the front bumper and in the stern. Both coupes are so beautiful and sexy that I am not afraid to prophesy the status of the desired ones, even when they become old-timers. Future classics that is. Frameless doors with door closers are an engineering masterpiece. The electromechanics of lowering the glass works with the clarity of a rifle bolt, and the developed seals compensate for the lack of frames: isolation from external sounds is ideal.

The first sensation of a person falling into a low, harsh chair is a "fat" car! I understand the unscientific nature of the term, but you take up a fat steering wheel, stare at the front roof pillars, which are heard to a dangerous thickness, and the epithet never leaves your head. The seats and steering wheel are the same for both models, but the M850i ​​has a larger and clearer font of painted electronic gauges and color versus monochrome climate displays. Both the confused devices and the "small-button" climate control panel, on which even the half-millimeter mismatch of the silver keys is too conspicuous - are the failures of the CLAR platform.

The austere dashboard design is diluted with sleek interior door handles. I want to hold out, even while driving. It is better to throw any luggage in advance on the rear seats that are useless in any other quality, by manually folding the backrest and waiting eight seconds for the electric drive to drive the seat forward. And then the same amount - back. The glove compartment, door pockets, central box in the armrest - all in a compartment of a modest volume.

Having coped with the quest "find the start button", you are surprised at the complete absence of the roar of the engine in all modes. It's still about diesel, because the petrol V8 is a completely different story. The voice of an in-line "six" on heavy fuel is amazing: deep, velvety, and not loud at that. Three hundred and forty forces "drive" at any speed, and the accelerator is tuned sharper than is usually done on mass cars. However, there are still slight delays in the drive - if you look at the standards of a sports car.
